About Me
I am a full-time spiritual practitioner, focusing on meditation (sitting, movement with tai chi and chi gong, and Indian raga practice) and simple living without income and little environmental impact. I teach meditation and simple living strategies here in Portland, occaisionally giving talks and writing articles. I have been practicing raga for close to ten years, on bansuri and with voice. I practice alap exclusively, as a meditation practice, and it is the great dhrupad masters that I listen to as a model. Mostly this means members of the Dagar family, as well as the incredible playing of the recently passed rudravina master Shamsuddin Faridi Desai. I would love to connect with any other enthusiasts of these activities, and particularly with bansuri players focusing on dhrupad and/or alap (or anyone who knows of them) and any other fans of Ustad Shamsuddin Faridi. |
